Odisha gets its footwear training centre in IEDO campus

New Delhi, Dec 22 (KNN) Under a recent collaboration between the Central Footwear Training Institute (CFTI), Agra and Institute of Entrepreneurship Development Odisha (IEDO), a footwear training centre was inaugurated recently in Bhubaneswar.

Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises for the state of Odisha Prafulla Samal recently inaugurated the training centre.

Addressing media during the inaugural event, Samal informed of the functioning strategy of the newly established institute.

He informed that the centre will be offering training program phase by phase. The first phase of the program is set to take off early February under which the centre will will offer one year advance certificate course in Footwear Design and Product Development. Also a certificate programme of six months duration in Footwear Design and Production will be offered to the aspiring youth.

Informing of the second phase of the program, Samal said that a new PG Diploma course in Footwear Industry Entrepreneurship and Development of 18 months duration to create a first line of entrepreneurs in footwear industry, will be offered.

Additional Chief Secretary MSME LN Gupta who was also present at the inaugural event said that  over 100 units are into production of leather and footwear products in the State at present and the government intends to multiply this to at least 1000 units in next few years. (KNN/DA)
