World is looking at massive energy transformation program happening in India: Piyush Goyal

The country is undergoing massive transformation in terms of making energy accessible, affordable and sustainable and the world is witnessing this largest energy transformation program happening in India, Piyush Goel, Minister of State for Power, Coal, New and Renewable Energy and Mines said earlier today.

Talking about India’s role in leading other countries towards sustainable and feasible energy he said that many nations including Asian and African countries are drawing inspiration from the Indian layout towards achieving power for all model.

He spoke about the engagements with Austria and United Kingdom that he had recently during his foreign tour. At the Vienna Energy Forum, the Minister delivered the keynote address in which he spoke about the India’s vision in adopting clean energy. The Minister said that India has well formulated plan which includes financial and technological considerations.

“I have appealed to the world leaders to look at the link between low cost technology, renewable energy and sustainable lifestyles. India has pioneered in tackling the costs of renewable energy resources so much so that the Indian renewable energy programs are at costs that are below the great parity”.

He further informed that the key focus of the forum was to look at poverty eradication by providing access to energy, something that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also been advocating.

Investors in Austria who work in the energy sector will be coming to India very soon to Make in India and take it to rest of the world.

Talking about his engagements in London, the Minister informed that earlier the Ministry of Power intended to raise 1 billion dollar through Masala bonds in London, which was successfully achieved.

UJALA program was launched in U.K by the Minister which is an extension of the Ujwal Jyoti Affordable LEDS for all. UJALA stands for U.K joins Ujwal Jyoti Affordable LEDS for all aiming at clean and sustainable energy. (KNN/ DA)
