28 per cent tax bracket items to be revised, major shuffle underway: Sushil Kumar Modi

New Delhi, Nov 9 (KNN) Hinting towards some relief under the newly rolled out Goods and Services Tax (GST) the Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, who is also a member of the GST council, on informed that the tax rates on 80 per cent items of the 28 per cent slab are likely to be revised.

The Minister informed that the list of items under the big tax rate category is to be streamlined and the announcements are likely to be made after the upcoming meet of GST council on 9th and 10th of November

He further informed that the tax rates from 18 per cent to 12 per cent on a number of goods is also under consideration.

The Minister informed that the government is also looking at the study and surveys to explore the problems businesses are facing under the new tax regime.

Earlier different industry bodies including FISME have submitted detailed representation highlighting the main concerns of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises with regard to the operational as well as procedural problems under the One Nation One Tax regime of the government. (KNN/DA)
