50 districts to be developed as export hubs with Rs 2,500 cr support scheme

New Delhi, Oct 26 (KNN) The government is likely to announce a Rs 2,500 crore scheme as a part of the Union Budget 2023-24 to develop 50 districts as export hubs.

In these districts domestic producers will be helped under the programme to scale up manufacturing and find potential buyers outside India, reported Mint.

Through a challenge under the proposed scheme the government will select 50 districts and they will receive Rs 50 crore each.

Parameters such as plans for exports, efforts to plug infrastructure and logistics gaps, and cluster approach to exports will be used to assess the districts.

Centre is likely to pay 60 per cent of the estimated cost as it will be a centrally sponsored scheme and the rest will be borne by the respective states.

Hence for the programme the Centre will likely allocate Rs 1,500 crore.  (KNN Bureau)
