All-India WPI Inflation eases to 12.41% and 7.51% for manufactured products in August 2022

New Delhi, Sept 14 (KNN) India’s annual rate of inflation based on Wholesale Price Index (WPI) is 12.41 per cent for the month of August, 2022.

The manufactured products segment eased to 7.51 per cent in August from 8.16 per cent in the month before that.

Inflation in August, 2022 is primarily contributed by rise in prices of mineral oils, food articles, crude petroleum & natural gas, basic metals, chemicals & chemical products, electricity, food products etc. as compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, said Ministry of Commerce & Industry on Wednesday.

Prices of Non-food Articles (1.98%) and Food Articles (1.57%) increased in August, 2022 as compared to July, 2022.

While prices of Minerals (-1.90%) and Crude Petroleum & Natural Gas (-7.34%) declined in August, 2022 as compared to July, 2022.

For the fuel and power segment, the WPI inflation number eased to 33.67%  last month from 43.75% in July. Petrol prices eased to 38.68% from 55.30 %  in July, HSD (High-Speed Diesel) fell to 60.15 % from 72.41 %, while LPG prices slipped to 19.75 % from 32 % in July.

The manufactured products segment eased to 7.51 % in August from 8.16 % in the month prior. The rate of inflation based on WPI Food Index increased to 9.93 % in August, from 9.41 % in July.

In a separate data released earlier this week, the country’s retail inflation, measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), snapped out of its three months downtrend and rose 7.00 % in the month of August.  (KNN Bureau)
