Annual rate of inflation based on November WPI high at 3.93 per cent: Data

New Delhi, Dec 14 (KNN) The rate of inflation based on the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) rose to 3.93 per cent for the month of November, data from Ministry of Commerce and Industry revealed.

The data further informed that In November of the previous fiscal, the figure stood at 1.82 per cent.

Dissecting from the data, sharp rise in the process of vegetables including onion and other season based vegetables occurred recently.

With regard to Onion, a 178.19 per cent rise in terms of inflation was registered in November.

The rate of inflation based on WPI Food Index comprising of food articles from primary articles group and food product from manufactured products group increased from 3.23 per cent in October, 2017 to 4.10 per cent in November, 2017, the data informed.

WPI inflation of food articles registered inflation up to 6.06 per cent in November in comparison to 4.30 per cent of October.

With regard to the manufactured goods, there wasn’t much change as the data for both October as well as November stood at 2.6 per cent roughly.

The data comes in the backdrop of the recent alarming figures of both the factory output as well as a CPI based inflation.

The industrial output hit a three month low along with inflation rocketing to a 15 month high figure, data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme implementation revealed, ringing bells for the different sector of the economy.

With regard to The CPI-based retail inflation, the data revealed that it jumped to 4.88 per cent in November on annual basis, as compared to 3.58 per cent in the preceding month. (With PIB Inputs) (KNN/ DA)
