New Delhi, Feb 1 (KNN) Even as Congress is demanding to postpone the Budget in respect of sitting member E Ahamed’s demise, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said he will present the Union Budget as scheduled at 11am today. Lok Sabha Speaker has also confirmed that the Budget will be presented.

Congress Leader Mallikarjun Kharge said, “Its not March 31, there is a lot of time to present budget. Govt can postpone it.”

In our opinion, including JDU leaders and former PM Deve Gowda, the budget should be postponed, he added.

Former PM HD Deve Gowda said, “Postponement of budget will be no big deal, its not as if secrecy will break.”

As per convention the House adjourns for a day, after mourning the departed sitting member.

The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha Secretariat have not been informed of any postponement. The decision is likely to be announced on the floor of the House.

Meanwhile, just few minutes ago Arun Jaitley tweeted, “Watch me live presenting the Union Budget 2017 at 11 am, February 1, 2017.”

The Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan too has assured that the Budget will be presented.
