CAIT to observe August 15 as less cash day in the country

New Delhi, Aug 13 (KNN) Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has announced to observe Independence Day on 15 August as less cash day by trading community across the nation.‎

CAIT said that the unique initiative is taken to support call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for creating a cash less economy in India.

It has urged PM Modi to declare cash less economy as a program on the pattern of Prime Minister Jan Dhan Yojna bit an effective wide spread National Campaign in his forthcoming address to Nation on 15 August from the rampates of Redfort.

It also urged the PM to launch an effective & National Campaign for awareness among the masses. It is remembered that Modi in his Mann Ki Baat addresses make on May 21st staged greatly on need of developing in the country into a cash less society.

However the CAIT has formed a bigger alliance with National Organisations of other different sector of economy under the banner of “Alliance for Digital Bharat”.

In a bid to develop conducive atmosphere for digitalisation in non-corporate sector, prominent stakeholders of economy have come forward to form the ‘Alliance for Digital Bharat’. The Alliance includes national organisations of traders, transporters, consumers, farmers, hawkers, SMEs, self-employed groups etc.

Proposed GST which is designed to be based on a digital platform coupled with various moves of the Government to encourage cashless economy has necessitated the formation of an alliance which will become a common market in line with keeping at par, the goods & services in proposed GST.

B. C. Bhartia, National President & Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary General of Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) jointly said that the promotion of adoption of less cash payment system coupled with demanding simplified tax regime and favourable support policies including incentivising benefits for deeper percolation among the masses are being seen as measures to boost this sector which has long remain neglected when compared with rapid strides the organised sector has made over the last few years.

They said that this move not only supports the Government’s intention to leverage its financial inclusion scheme, it also allows smaller business owners to realise impending benefits of these new age technologies. (KNN Bureau)
