CBDT Invites Stakeholder Input On Income Tax Rules Following Introduction Of 2025 Bill

New Delhi, Mar 19 (KNN) The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has called for stakeholder recommendations on income tax rules and related forms pertaining to provisions in the Income Tax Bill 2025, which was recently introduced in Parliament and is currently under review by the Select Committee.

To facilitate this consultative process, the CBDT has launched a dedicated utility on the e-filing portal that allows stakeholders to submit their inputs through an OTP-based validation system. The portal has been accessible to all stakeholders since March 8, 2025.

The initiative aligns with a comprehensive review of the Income-tax Act, 1961, aimed at simplifying associated rules and forms to enhance clarity, reduce compliance burdens, and eliminate obsolete regulations.

These efforts seek to make tax processes more accessible while improving taxpayer comprehension, reducing administrative burdens, minimising errors, and enhancing overall transparency and efficiency.

Stakeholders wishing to contribute must clearly specify the relevant provision of the Income-tax Rules, 1962, including specific section, sub-section, clause, rule, sub-rule, or form number to which their recommendation pertains.

The committee reviewing the rules and forms has requested that inputs fall within four categories: simplification of language, reduction of litigation, reduction of compliance burden, and identification of redundant/obsolete rules and forms.

All submissions require users to enter their name and mobile number, followed by OTP validation. The collected suggestions will be compiled and forwarded to the Select Committee for consideration during their detailed review of the bill.
