CPI-IW increases by 1 point, retail inflation increases to 3.97 per cent: November Data

New Delhi, Jan 1 (KNN) The Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) in month of November 2017 increased by one point making it touch 288, data from Ministry of Labour and Employment for the month of November revealed.

The data further said that the retail inflation for November increased to 3.97 per cent from the earlier figure of 3.24. The figure of the corresponding period last year was 2.59 per cent.

Also the food inflation in November registered a 3.91 per cent as compared to the 2.26 per cent of the month of October. The figure of the corresponding period last year was 1.66per cent.

The change in index of over 1.10 per cent comes as a result of rise in prices of food, including wheat, wheat flour, Eggs and Goat.

Also items such as Onion, Tamarind, Bitter Gourd, Cabbage, Carrot, Coconut, Potato, Tomato Cooking Gas, Electricity charges, Firewood, Tuition Fee, and Petrol etc. added to the pressure.

However despite the upward push, prices of Arhar, Masur and Urad (pulses), Groundnut Oil, Fresh Fish, Poultry, Green Chillies, Garlic, Ginger Brinjal, Cauliflower, Vegetables, apple and Banana helped absorb the pressure.

The next issue of CPI-IW for the month of December, 2017 will be released on Wednesday, 31st January, 2018, the department informed. (With PIB Inputs) (KNN/ DA)
