Daily-use goods to get cheaper as Finance Ministry places items under Zero per cent GST

New Delhi, June 9 (KNN) The Ministry of Finance recently announced zero per cent tax rate on the daily consumer goods.

The announcement was made by the Finance Ministry through its official twitter handle. In a series of tweets the Ministry informed that the exemption of the goods from the GST will make them cheaper by four to five per cent.

The tweet said that the daily consumer goods being used by the common man among other will become cheaper under the GST.

Another tweet from the Finance Ministry said that under the One Nation One Tax regime that is all set to roll out from July 1, day to day commodities will attract zero GST

The Ministry also listed certain items that fall under this category. The list includes items such as food grains, flours, Cereals, Pulses, Atta, Maida, etc

Also other commodities such as fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, fresh milk, common salt, animal feed, puffed rice, organic manure and firewood will also fall under the zero per cent tax slab the Ministry tweeted.

Materials such as raw silk, wool, jute, hand-operated agricultural equipment are also put in the zero per cent GST.

The Goods and Services Tax is scheduled for a roll-out from July 1 this year. (KNN/ DA)
