New Delhi, Oct 31 (KNN)  Today is the last day for sending comments on the Damodaran Committee report, also known as the Report of the Committee for Reforming the Regulatory Environment for Doing Business in India to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.

In the first week of October, the Ministry had called for the general public to send their comments through emails to the Assistant Director, MCA, Kamna Sharma.

The Damodaran Committee was set up in August 2012 by the Ministry under the Chairmanship of former Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) chairman M Damodaran for reforming the regulatory environment for doing business in India.

The main cause of the establishment of the committee was the World Bank’s Doing Business Report which ranked India amongst the countries ranked at the bottom of various sub-indices.

According to the World Bank’s new report on Doing Business, India further slipped to 134th rank from 132nd last time.

The committee had submitted its report in September this year. It had made a number of recommendations that can be classified as: legal reforms, regulatory architecture, boosting efficacy of regulatory process, enabling MSMEs, and addressing State level issues.

The recommendations of the committee and the time frame for implementation are under consideration of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, the Ministry had said in a press release. (KNN/SD)
