Delhi discoms seek tariff revision; credit card payment without fee

New Delhi, Apr 25 (KNN)  Power distribution companies in the national capital known as discoms have approached the regulator for fixation of new tariff which can increase the burden on consumers in case their proposal is approved.
 
Among different suggestions, the discoms including BSES, Rajdhani, BSES Jamuna Power, Tata Power Delhi Distribution and NDMC have sought uniform tariff for industrial and commercial categories.
 
The power tariff in Delhi city has been a contentious and political issue with the short lived Aam Admi Part Government questioning their accounts.  On its request, the Comptroller and Auditor General is auditing the discoms’ accounts.
 
Apart from the tariff revision proposals, the discoms have also suggested some consumer friendly measures such as waiver of processing fee on bill payment through credit / debit cards upto payment of Rs 20,000.
 
The discoms have also sought an enhancement of security deposit.
 
However, the industrial units in the national capital state that they are facing power outages in several parts of the city.
 
While water and power woes are common each year, Udyog Nagar Industrial Area, opposite Peeragarhi has been the worst hit. 
 
“There is frequent electricity failure as well as water scarcity and shortage.  As a result units there dread the summer.  As far as H-34 of the Industrial Area is concerned, it has had no water for the past five years.  Ironically the bills keep coming; and despite a number of complaints, no action has been taken,” Secretary General, All India Plastic Industries Association, P P Tuteja told KNN.
 
Similarly, Filmistan area that is home to several plastic industrial units and Palam area have been affected by water shortage and power cuts over the last week.  (KNN/PC)
