Dena Bank to empower women self-help groups in Maharashtra

Mumbai, Sep 1 (KNN) With the view to empower women in the country, Public Sector Dena Bank has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mahila Arthik Vikas Mahamandal (MAVIM) whereby the bank will provide loans to a Maharashtra-based women centric development body to finance various self-help groups (SHGs).

As per the MoU, MAVIM will co-ordinate with the bank and community managed resource centres (CMRCs) and act as a business facilitator.

As per the official statement, the bank will primarily implement the scheme in Nashik, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Dhule, Aurangabad, Kolhapur, Satara, Pune, Sangali, Ahmednagar Parbhani and Jalna districts of Maharashtra on pilot basis.

MAVIM will organize poor people to form women SHGs, impart financial literacy training and guide them to mobilize their saving, setting up linkages between the groups and the bank.

Dena Bank is engaged in providing banking services. Its services include treasury, corporate/wholesale banking, retail banking, mobile banking, phone banking, internet banking, international banking, dena automated teller machine (ATM) services and visa bill pay etc. (KNN Bureau)
