DGFT lays down procedure for import of certain varieties of pulses; invites applications from millers/refiners

New Delhi, Apr 17 (KNN) The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has laid down the procedure for import of certain varieties of pulses for the fiscal year 2019-2020.
In a notification, Commerce Ministry’s arm DGFT said “Procedure for import of 2 lakh tonne pigeon peas/toor dal, 1.5 lakh tonne urad dal, 1.5 lakh tonne moong dal and 1.5 lakh tonne peas (including yellow peas, green peas, dun peas, and kaspa peas) is laid down.”
According to DGFT, millers and refiners of these pulses need a license for imports.
Besides this, it has also invited applications from intending millers/refiners (having own refining/processing capacity) of pulses/peas for its import latest by April30, 2019.
It said “For each refining/processing unit, applicants will have to provide a self-certified copy of a document of latest IEM issued by DIPP and/or any other document issued by central, state or district authorities indicating its refining/ processing capacity.”
The absence of the document will render the application liable for rejection, it added.
The license holders shall submit monthly statements indicating the actual arrival of shipments at the Indian ports," it added.
