DIPP seeks comments from industry experts on draft quality control order on aluminum foil
New Delhi, Nov 8 (KNN) The Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP) has sought comments from industry experts on draft Quality Control Order (QCO) on Aluminum Foil.
The Department is in the process of issuing Quality Control Order (QCO) on Aluminum Foil (IS: 15392) under Bureau of Indian Standards Act (BIS Act), 2016.
With regard to this, it has invited comments, suggestions and views on the said draft QCO latest by November 15, 2018.
In a communication to industry bodies, DIPP, the arm of Ministry of Commerce and Industry, said, “the order shall come into force with effect from June 1, 2019.”
The authority has mandated the use of standard mark under a license from BIS.
The Quality Control Order issued by DIPP states “Aluminum Foil (IS: 15392) shall be applicable for import and manufacture for use within India.”
The Bureau of Indian Standards shall be the certifying and enforcing authority for this, it said.
With regard to penalty for contravention, it has been mentioned that any person who contravenes the provision of this order shall be punishable under the provisions of the BIS Act, 2016.
The comments have been sought from industry bodies including Federation of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (FISME).
