New Delhi, Sept 30 (KNN)  The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) wants to hire consultant firms to research and study how to make India a competitive investment destination.

Under criticism for unease of doing business and being unfriendly towards foreign investments, the government wants to find ways to set the matter right.

The consultant should “assist DIPP in (i) examining the current policy, institutional and regulatory environment, regulatory interfaces, practices and processes for investors and businesses throughout the lifecycle of a business entity and (ii) identifying key bottlenecks impacting the ease of doing business and the business environment in India based on a case-study of selected states and Central Government Departments across certain sectors,” said an official notification.

Further, the consultant should assist DIPP in formulating a policy action plan for improving the business environment in India as a whole in consultation with key stakeholders such as other relevant ministries / departments, state governments and industry bodies, it said.

The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry is responsible for formulation and implementation of promotional and developmental measures for growth of the industrial sector, keeping in view the national priorities and socio-economic objectives.

DIPP plays an active role in investment promotion through steps to promote foreign direct investment, improvement in business environment and formulating projects and policy aimed at attracting and facilitating investments.  (KNN/ES)
