DPIIT To Release Guidelines for Private Sector Access To PM Gati Shakti Portal Data
New Delhi, Feb 5 (KNN) The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) is preparing comprehensive guidelines on private sector access to data and mapping capabilities within the PM Gati Shakti portal, announced DPIIT Secretary Amardeep Singh Bhatia's on Tuesday.
The initiative aims to enhance decision-making efficiency for infrastructure and development projects across India.
Secretary Bhatia revealed that various data-sharing mechanisms are under consideration, with a primary focus on a query-based system that would prioritize data security.
This development follows Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's recent budget announcement confirming the government's decision to grant private sector access to select portal data and mapping resources, potentially revolutionizing last-mile delivery services and infrastructure application development.
The PM Gati Shakti national master plan, launched in October 2021, was conceived to foster integrated infrastructure development and reduce logistics costs through strategic planning.
The portal's expansion to include private sector participation marks a significant evolution in its scope and utility.
Secretary Bhatia illustrated the practical applications of this access, citing examples such as optimizing coal mining routes and strategic placement of telecommunications infrastructure.
The initiative represents a substantial advancement in public-private partnerships, providing businesses with valuable tools for project planning and execution.
By integrating private sector capabilities with government resources, the program aims to accelerate infrastructure development while maintaining data security through controlled access protocols.
