EAC chaired by Prof. Bibek Debroy convenes its third meeting
New Delhi, Dec 21 (KNN) The Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM) headed by Dr. Bibek Debroy recently convened its 3rd meeting in the national capital.
NITI Aayog in a press release informed of the meeting.
The meeting deliberated with focus on employment and growth. In this regard, Dr Ramesh Chand, Member, NITI Aayog made presentation on “Strategic options for enhancing agricultural productivity, income and pro-employment growth in Agriculture and Allied Sectors”, the release informed.
Also Amarjeet Sinha, Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development took the meeting forward with a presentation on the “Mission Antyodaya for Poverty Free Panchayats”.
With regard to the issues related to trade and commerce, Kishore Desai, OSD in the EAC-PM made a presentation before the council.
Also during the meeting, part time members of the council including Dr Rathin Roy and Dr Surjit Bhalla made presentation on the theme “An update on the Economy Track Monitor.
The council was constituted earlier by the PMO in the aftermath of the country’s slowed 3-year low GDP in the June quarter. GDP slowed to 5.7 per cent in the April-June period from 6.1 per cent in the preceding quarter, following which different stakeholders as well as government officials have raised concerns.
