New Delhi, Jul 31 (KNN)  If you want certain exemptions from the ESIC as an employer, include more and more people in your workforce with disabilities. A visit to Costa Coffee will show you how girls with disabilities are working with a sense of pride adding extra sweetness to your cup of coffee.

In a move to encourage employers to employ people with disabilities, the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation has announced an incentive scheme for employers employing persons with disability, according to a press notification.

Employers who have a social responsibility to provide employment opportunities to persons with disability now have extra reason to do so.

“The Government of India will bear the employer’s share of ESI contribution on wages up to Rs 25,000 per month for three years in case of employment of persons with specified disabilities appointed on or after 1.4.2008,” the notification said.

All that employers will have to do is follow two simple steps.  Firstly, appoint a person with disability and secondly, inform the sub-regional office, Employees’ State Insurance Corporation, Rohini, Delhi in the prescribed proforma, with a valid disability certificate of the person(s).

In addition, such disabled persons covered under ESI Scheme will be entitled to medical benefit, sickness benefit, maternity benefit, disablement benefit, dependants’ benefit, funeral expenses, rehabilitation allowance, vocational rehabilitation, old age medicare, medical bonus and unemployment allowance (Rajiv Gandhi Shramik Kalyan Yojana).  (KNN/ES)
