EPFO to become fully digital by August 2018
New Delhi, Nov 2 (KNN) Lok Sabha speaker, Sumitra Mahajan yesterday inaugurated 65th foundation day celebrations of Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) in New Delhi. She appreciated the relentless endeavors of the organization to digitize the registration process to speed up the claims of EPFO beneficiaries in Provident Fund, Pension & Insurance.
Speaking at the event, Santosh Kumar Gangwar, the Minister of State (IC) for Labour & Employment said that the journey of EPFO began with 5.5 lakh beneficiaries and 1267 establishments and now it provides its services to 4.5 crore employees in 10 lakh establishments.
He added that EPFO has introduced many schemes to escalate the process of online registration of employers and has also started focusing on unorganized sector of the economy.
He added that the Central government is constantly working to generate opportunities of self-empoloyemnt. The Mudra Yojna has created a lot of self- employment as 9.5 crore people have received loan of about 4 lakh crore to start their own businesses.
The Commissioner, EPFO, Dr V.P. Joy said that EPFO would become a totally digitalized and paperless office by August 15, 2018. (KNN/AG)
