FDI Inflows Hit USD 51 Bn In 6 Months Amid Boost To Manufacturing & Startups: DPIIT
New Delhi, Jan 16 (KNN) India has received foreign direct investment (FDI) worth USD 51 billion in the last six months, signalling sustained global confidence in the country’s growth story, Amardeep Singh Bhatia, Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), said on Wednesday.
National Startup Day to Promote Innovation
"As part of its startup push, DPIIT will organise National Startup Day on January 16, during which 75 Grand Challenges will be launched to foster innovation and problem-solving across sectors," he told the media.
The initiative has already received over 3,000 participation requests.
On the occasion, 20 National Startup Awards will be presented to recognise excellence in entrepreneurship and celebrate significant contributions to India’s startup ecosystem.
Boosting Manufacturing and Corporate Collaboration
Bhatia highlighted the government’s focus on promoting innovation-driven manufacturing. “New products are being manufactured, and significant investments are flowing into the manufacturing sector,” he said, reported ANI.
He also noted growing collaboration between corporates and startups to foster innovation and scale production.
Digital India and Youth-Led Growth
At the final session of the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the synergy of Digital India, startup growth, and youth participation is reshaping India’s future. He observed rapid expansion in creative and technology-driven sectors, largely powered by young innovators and entrepreneurs.
He further highlighted the rise of the ‘Orange Economy’, driven by culture, content, and creativity, fostered through the Digital India initiative, creating a new community of creators and innovators across the country.
