New Delhi, May 11 (KNN) The Indian Fishnet Manufacturers Association (IFMA) body of fishnet manufacturing MSMEs recently approached the Directorate General of Anti-Dumping (DGAD) and filed a petition demanding investigation against Bangladesh and China for dumping their fishnets which is harming the domestic industry.

The Authority observed that there is evidence of dumping from the countries mentioned in the petition. The DGAD is in the process of further looking into the matter and may initiate anti-dumping duty on the exports from China and Bangladesh to protect the industry at home.

As far as dumping margin is concerned the normal product value has been compared with the export price at ex-factory level. The Association further claims there is evidence that the normal value of the fishnet in China and Bangladesh is higher than the ex-factory export price which indicates that the fishnet is being dumped in Indian market.

The MSMEs manufacturing fishnet in the country caters to the major chunk of demands for the fishnet in the country. Fishnets are devices made from woven fibres in a grid like structure. Most of the producers of this commodity come from the unorganised sector of the economy and it would be disastrous if they continue losing business due to the dumping practice of the countries in competition fears the Fishnet Manufacturers Association. (KNN/ DA)
