GoM reiterates no further extension for filing GSTR1 returns after October 10 deadline

New Delhi, Oct 5 (KNN) Pushing the traders to file the GSTR1 in time, the Group of Ministers (GoM) led by Sushil Kumar Modi reiterated that there is not going to be any further extension for filing the GSTR 1 and the taxpayers must abide by the October 10 deadline.

Modi said that already the deadline have been extended thrice and there won’t be any further extensions.

So far, for the month of July, over 52 lakh dealers have filed their returns, but the detailed GSTR1 has been filed by only 33.43 lakh dealers.  GoM said that the GSTN will be sending text messages to over 20 lakh businesses reminding them to file the returns for the month of July.

Modi made these remarks after the second meeting of the Group of Ministers (GoM) that is constituted to look into the problems of the Goods and Services Tax Networks (GSTN).

GoM informed that the glitches in the GSTN are being resolved with utmost priority and the team is expecting it to be fine-tuned by the end of October.

Commenting over the problem of capital blockage due to the delay in refunds, Modi informed that the issue will be discussed at the upcoming meeting of the GST council.

The GST refund under IGST for exporters is in the process and will be initiated from October 10, Modi added. (KNN/ DA)
