Government Approves Nationwide Rollout Of Rs 60,000-Crore PM-SETU Scheme

New Delhi, Jul 8 (KNN) The government has approved the nationwide rollout of the Rs 60,000-crore Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs (PM-SETU) scheme across 200 Industrial Training Institute (ITI) clusters, along with strategic investment plans worth Rs 1,237.58 crore.
PM-SETU to Be Rolled Out Across 200 ITI Clusters
The decisions were taken at the fourth meeting of the National Steering Committee (NSC), chaired by Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, reported PTI.
The approved investment plans include projects led by Jindal Naveen Avasar Limited in Odisha, ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India in Gujarat, Apollo Medskills and two other ITI clusters in Telangana.
These plans, recommended by the respective state steering committees, are aimed at facilitating industry-led modernisation of ITI clusters across the country.
Government Seeks Greater Industry Participation
Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Jayant Chaudhary called on more industry leaders to partner with the government in transforming ITIs into world-class institutions.
The committee also approved the transition of PM-SETU from its pilot phase to a full-scale national rollout across all 200 identified ITI clusters, enabling states and Union Territories to implement the programme based on industry preparedness and institutional capacity.
NSC Clears Measures to Strengthen Implementation
In addition, the NSC cleared measures to simplify implementation, strengthen industry participation, encourage greater involvement of public sector undertakings (PSUs) and expand the institutional framework supporting the scheme.
PM-SETU is a flagship initiative aimed at modernising India's ITI ecosystem through industry partnerships, upgraded infrastructure, industry-aligned curricula and improved employability outcomes.
