Government Launches National Campaign To Promote Rural Entrepreneurship Under DAY-NRLM

New Delhi, Jan 15 (KNN) The Rural Development Ministry has launched the ‘National Campaign on Entrepreneurship.'

The initiative aims to build the capacity of 50,000 community resource persons in enterprise promotion and provide Entrepreneurship Development Programme training to 50 lakh SHG members under the DAY-NRLM.

Boost to Rural Entrepreneurship and Financial Inclusion

The National Campaign on Entrepreneurship offers a strategic platform to strengthen rural enterprise development, spur local economic growth, and harness the entrepreneurial potential of women SHG members across India.

The initiative aims to develop a strong network of community resource persons and stimulate millions of rural entrepreneurs, fostering a resilient, inclusive, and self-reliant non-farm rural economy.

It will also strengthen connections with formal financial institutions, improving grassroots enterprises’ access to loans and other financial services.

About DAY-NRLM

DAY-NRLM aims to transform rural women’s incomes by fostering diversified and sustainable livelihoods. Promoting non-farm rural enterprises is a central strategy, serving as a vital driver of income growth and economic resilience in rural communities.

Over the years, several non-farm livelihood initiatives, including the Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Programme, have demonstrated successful enterprise models supported by trained community cadres.

These cadres function as grassroots-level catalysts, providing enterprise identification, start-up support, mentoring and continuous handholding to aspiring rural entrepreneurs.

The Ministry has committed to enabling at least three crore Lakhpati Didis, self-help group (SHG) women members earning Rs 1 lakh or more annually.

Achieving this ambitious target requires massive upscaling of trained community resource persons who can support enterprise promotion at scale across rural India.
