New Delhi, Aug 22 (KNN) In a bid to increase the export of onion, the government has relaxed the minimum export price (MEP) on onion to USD 300 per MT from USD 500 per MT.

In June, the government had imposed MEP of USD 300 MT on onion which was increased to USD 500 per MT in July.

“Export of all varieties of onions as described above will be subject to a Minimum Export Price (MEP) of USD 300 per MT,” Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said in a notification.

The decision comes as the prices of onion have come down in the domestic market and the availability has increased.  (KNN/SD)
