Govt to come up with new policies for defence manufacturing, start-ups: Principal Secretary, UP

Agra, Jan 5 (KNN) Uttar Pradesh Government is planning to soon come out with its policy on defence manufacturing and is also working on a start-up policy that will be introduced in next 1-2 months, said Mahesh Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary, Infrastructure & Industrial Development, Government of UP.
 
While addressing at the 1st Uttar Pradesh Pravasi Diwas organized by the UP Government; Department of NRI and FICCI, Gupta said, “the state has received cumulative investments worth Rs 85,000 crore in the last three years.”  
 
Speaking on the theme ‘Umeedo-ka-Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh’ the Principal Secretary said the Government will shortly introduce its policy on defence manufacturing. Among other key initiatives, the Government is working to ensure total self-sufficiency in power by end-December 2017. 
 
“Maximum attention is also being directed to improve the ease of doing business in the state. In this, the Udyog Bandhu serves as a single window for investment and business facilitation, he added. 
 
He also stated that while investors have always expressed keen interest in investing in cities like Lucknow, Noida and Greater Noida, there is growing interest among investors to also foray into the eastern, central and Bundelkhand regions of the state.
 
Looking ahead, he said that industry-focused skill development initiatives, development of a vast network of incubation labs, and packaging and designing support to MSMEs will also contribute to balanced industrial development across the state.
 
He added that the Government is also working on a Start-up Policy that will be introduced in 1-2 months. 
 
P K Gupta, Chairman, Café Buddy Foods Pvt Ltd, said that food processing holds immense potential in Uttar Pradesh. Food processing industries will not only accelerate employment generation but can also help in rural development initiatives. He added that investors would increasingly view Uttar Pradesh as a major hub for food processing business. 
 
Hari Om Rai, Chairman and Managing Director, Lava International Ltd, Noida, Delhi NCR, said laid emphasis on the need for labour reforms in the state, and easier financing of business. 
 
Ashok K Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Group, urged industry to create more opportunities for apprenticeship, and added that the lab facilities at engineering colleges could also be better utilised after college hours to train unskilled people.  (KNN Bureau)
