New Delhi, Jul 17 (KNN)  As the milk prices are increasing, the government has withdrawn the incentive on export of skimmed milk powder, a move which will boost domestic supply and help control prices.

Government provides incentives on export of skimmed milk products under Vishesh Krishi and Gram Udyog Yojana (VKGUY). The objective of VKGUY is to compensate high transport costs and offset other disadvantages to promote export of certain products.

"Vishesh Krishi and Gram Udyog Yojana (VKGUY) benefit on Skimmed Milk Powder has been withdrawn," Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said in a public notice earlier this week.

Recently, the major milk suppliers like Amul and Mother Dairy, had raised prices of milk by Rs 2 per litre to Rs 34-48 per kg in some places.

Annual retail inflation in milk and its products in May was 11.28 per cent. (KNN/SD)
