Growth of eight core industries drops to 2.1% in July
New Delhi, Sep 3 (KNN) The growth of the eight core industries has witnessed a slow down to 2.1% for the month of July 2019. Its cumulative growth during April to July, 2019-20 was 3%, as per data released by Ministry of Commerce.
The eight core industries include coal, crude oil, natural gas, refinery products, fertiliser, steel, cement and electricity.
According to data, the Coal production declined by 1.4 per cent in July, 2019 over July, 2018. Its cumulative index increased by 1.8 per cent during April to July, 2019-20 over corresponding period of the previous year.
However, steel production increased by 6.6 per cent in July, 2019 over July, 2018. Its cumulative index increased by 10.9 per cent during April to July, 2019-20 over the corresponding period of previous year.
Fertilizers production increased by 1.5 per cent in July, 2019 over July, 2018. Its cumulative index declined by 0.4 per cent during April to July, 2019-20 over the corresponding period of previous year.
As per the official data, electricity generation increased by 4.2 per cent in July, 2019 over July, 2018. Its cumulative index increased by 6.4 per cent during April to July, 2019-20 over the corresponding period of previous year.
