GST council to meet on November 10 in Guwahati, meeting expected to be crucial: Himanta Biswa Sarma

New Delhi, Nov 7 (KNN) The Goods and Services tax (GST) council will be meeting later this week on 9th and 10th of November in Guwahati. Of the many things on the agenda of the meeting, one would be to review the roll out of the new taxation and the complications different sectors are facing taking the initial three months at the pilot, Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed.

Sarma further said that there is a lot of enthusiasm with regard to the upcoming meeting, both among the officials and the stakeholders.

Sarma also heads the board – Group of Ministers (GoM) that was formed by the government earlier to look into the problems different sectors are facing under the one nation one tax regime.

Another main focus of the agenda would be to explore the impact of GST on small- scale industries so far.

Earlier different industry bodies including the Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME) made representation before the GoM as well as the Finance Minister raising concerns of the sector. (KNN/DA)
