Gujarat Govt to set up vertical GIDC estates for meeting infra needs of MSME units: Rupani

Vadodara, Dec 2 (KNN) Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has said that the government has decided to set up vertical GIDC (Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation) estates in each of the existing estates for meeting the infrastructure requirements of MSME units located in it.

He said this while addressing the 10th Global Trade Show Exhibition, organised by Vadodara Chamber of Commerce and Industries on Thursday.

Rupani also announced that the state's first Skill Development University will be set up in the city.

"The (state) government's focus is more on skill development so as to generate more employable manpower," he added.

Talking to KNN, Prashant Patel, Advisor, Gujarat Dyestuffs Manufacturers Association, said, “The government’s decision to set up vertical GIDC estates in each of the existing estates will help the MSMEs as the government would take care of the infrastructure needs of the MSMEs.”

Citing example he said that when an industry is set up under GIDC, the Commission authority takes care of necessary permissions and many other things for the industry.

Also, GIDC estate would be like a cluster in which the employees and workers would also be available easily, he added.

Meawhile, Rupani also said that the state government will soon come up with an Aerospace and Defence Manufacturing policy.

According to Rupani, Gujarat aims to attract five mega A&D investments in the next 5 years.

"The A&D sector is envisaged to create 20,000 direct and indirect jobs in Gujarat in the next 5 years. This policy will be in addition to 18 existing policies announced by the state government to attract huge industrial investments," the chief minister said. (KNN Bureau)
