Gujarat leads SME IPO space, Maharashtra-Madhya Pradesh follow

Mumbai, Jan 4 (KNN) The Small and medium Enterprises (SME-IPO) space witnessed an increasing investor interest with over 132 SMEs getting listed on the SME IPO portal in the year 2017.

Pantomath Research in its study on the trends of SME IPO in 2017 revealed that over 132 SMEs raised a whopping 1,785 crore rupees that stands more than the figure from the previous year.

Earlier in 2016, the SME IPO managed to get over 66 firms aboard with over generating over 540 crores.

State wise data in the report revealed that Gujarat continued to dominate the IPO space by contributing 51 firms on SME portal, followed by Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Delhi.

Also SMEs from Rajasthan, Telengana, West Bengal and Andhra as well as Punjab got listed on the portal for offering.

These SMEs hailed from different sectors including media and entertainment, manufacturing, textiles, engineering, finance, chemicals and agriculture.  Also there have been SMEs from the food processing and construction opening up their shares.

The study further informed that cumulatively, the 132 firms have a market capitalisation of over 30,000 crore.

The funds raised through IPOs are likely to help these SMEs on their expansion projects.

Earlier, in November last year, BSE CEO Ashishkumar Chauhan in a press interview informed that the number of SMEs for the IPO is likely to increase further.  Chauhan said that the exchange has 40-50 companies pending in the SME IPO pipeline and are likely to be listed by April-May of 2018.
