IKEA to tie up with handicraft, handloom makers for Indian stores

New Delhi, Aug 13 (KNN)  Swedish furniture major IKEA which has begun the process of setting up stores in India will be collaborating with handicraft, handloom and leather sectors for sourcing of products.

This was conveyed to the Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma here yesterday by IKEA CEO Mikael Ohlsson.

IKEA which plans to invest Rs 10,500 crore in India and set up 25 retail stores will also engage different clusters.

To begin with, the Swedish home furnishing company will set up sales outlets in Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka, the report said.

IKEA is a Swedish company registered in the Netherlands that designs and sells ready-to-assemble furniture such as beds, chairs and desks, appliances and home accessories. It is one of the world's largest furniture retailers.

Its concept is founded on a low-price offer in home furnishings.  In keeping with that, it offers a wide range of well-designed, functional home furnishing products at low prices so that many people can afford them.

The products are such that people can take home immediately and enjoy the very same day. More than 770 million people have visited IKEA stores around the world until now. (KNN/GUNJ)
