Imperative for educational institutions-private sector banks to create ecosystem for entrepreneurs: President Kovind

New Delhi, Jan 15 (KNN) Batting for a more conducive environment for entrepreneurs in the country, President Ram Nath Kovind said that it is imperative to promote the entrepreneurial culture in the country.

“The task of promoting entrepreneurial culture is not only for the government. Families, educational institutions, private sector banks and entrepreneurs, NGOs, media etc. all have to create an environment where private businessmen should be seen with more respect”, the President said.

During the address at the inaugural of Economic Democracy Conclave, the President said that the country should also focus on imparting skills that can transform the Indian youth from job seekers to job givers.

Highlighting the schemes by the government along the line, Kovind said that schemes including Jan Dhan Yojana, Mudra Yojana, Stand-Up India and Start-Up India have been initiated to promote entrepreneurship in the country.

Present age is the age of startups, India is blessed with youth that have vast knowledge, imagination and innovative minds that are capable of becoming employers, the President added.

President Kovind also spoke of the procurement norm in the National Procurement policy saying that the 4 per cent of the total procurement of central as well as PSUs have been made mandatory to be procured from entrepreneurs from the SC/ST categories.  (KNN/DA)
