New Delhi, Jun 7 (KNN) The Minister of Commerce, Industry and Textiles, Anand Sharma said today that India and Myanmar had potential for future collaboration in sectors like information technology, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, etc.

“Both the countries have potential for future collaboration in oil and gas exploration, infrastructure, information technology, pharmaceutical, manufacturing and education and skill development,” said Sharma.

Further he said over the next few years, “we will see an investment of around USD 2.6 billion from India to Myanmar.”

India is the tenth largest investor in Myanmar with an investment estimated at USD 273.5 million.

The minister is currently on a visit to Myanmar.

He met with the Minister of communications and information technology, U Myat Hein and discussed the selection process for telecom companies, which is going on there.

Earlier, he met the chairperson of the National League for Democracy (NLD), Myanmar Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, at Nay Pyi Taw, where she expressed keen interest in building linkages with the textiles sector of India.
