New Delhi, Sept 25 (KNN) Ahead of his maiden visit to the US, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Make in India’ campaign, a move aimed at transforming India into a manufacturing hub.

“This is the step of a Lion...Make in India,” Modi said in a tweet.

He said that India has to increase manufacturing and at the same time ensure that the benefits reach the youth of the nation.

However, he added that industry does not come when there are too many incentive schemes. “We have to create a development and growth oriented environment.”

“We have to create opportunities of employment. If the poor get jobs the purchasing power of families will increase,” the PM said.

My definition of FDI for the people of India is First Develop India, Modi tweeted.

“For the world FDI is an opportunity…People are talking about FDI but I see things differently. FDI is also a responsibility for the people of India.”

“The world is looking at Asia. I do not have to waste time to invite...I need to give the address.”

“I do not only talk about good governance. I talk about effective governance,” he said.

On the other hand, “Make in India is not a slogan but a mission to be accomplished with single minded commitment, about new processes,” said Commerce and Industry Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman.

Meanwhile, as many as 3000 companies and 500 global CEOs were present at the event.

Welcoming the campaign, Chairman, Reliance Industries Limited, Mukesh Ambani said, “India is blessed with a leader whose unique leadership quality is that he dreams and does and motivates a billion Indians.”

Chairman, Tata Sons, Cyrus Mistry said, “It’s an opportunity to make India truly globally competitive.”

“True success of manufacturing lies in the servicing of global markets,” said Azim Premji, Wipro chairman.

Make in India has a very special resonance for our group. India can become a manufacturing hub. For us, India is already a manufacturing group,” Chairman of Aditya Birla Group, Kumar Mangalam Birla said. (KNN/SD)
