India’s trade deficit at 4-month high at $ 14.62 bn

New Delhi, June 15 (KNN) India's trade deficit has grown to be at four months high at USD 14.62 billion in May with imports surging nearly 15 per cent, the government said today.

Trade deficit widened to USD 14.62 billion from USD 13.84 billion in May 2017.

Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu said exports in May rose by 28.18 per cent to USD 28.86 billion while imports were up 14.85 per cent to USD 43.48 billion.

Oil imports were up 49.46 per cent to USD 11.5 billion on back of surge in international crude prices.
