International exhibitions to showcase Indian products better: FIEO

To give impetus to bilateral trade, an Indian delegation will be participating in the 1st China South Asia Expo to be held in Kunming from June 6-10. The team will be led by the President of the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO).
“The exhibition will show case both new and traditional products. The value added products display will help in changing profile of India’s exports to China, which hitherto was dominated by raw materials. The exposure to MSME segment will help them in their marketing effort as well as product development,” said Ahmed.
The delegation comprises of around 90 Indian companies in 128 booths exhibiting a wide range of products such as, wellness products, jewellery, electronic items, Textiles and garments, woollen items, processed food, gifts and promotional items, handicrafts, metal ware, kitchenware, home furnishings, leather footwear, wooden furniture.
FIEO had previously organized four consecutive participations in important international exhibitions like Canton and SACTF.
India China bilateral trade has increased manifold from just USD 7.6 billion in 2003 to USD 66 billion last year, though India’s trade deficit with China is very high. (KNN)
