July WPI eases to 5 month low of 5.19%; manufactured inflation up to 3.67% MoM

New Delhi, Aug 14 (KNN) The Wholesale Price Inflation has eased to a five-month low in July to 5.19 per cent, its slowest pace since February, after the government curbed farm exports. In May, the prices rose 6.01 per cent from a year earlier. However, food article inflation fell to 7.4o per cent versus 8.14 per cent and fuel group inflation showed a decline while manufactured inflation inched up to 3.67 per cent against 3.61 per cent in the previous month.

In June, wholesale prices rose 5.43 per cent year-on-year, their slowest pace in four months.

Meanwhile, the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) for ‘All Commodities’ for the month of July, 2014 rose by 1.1 per cent to 184.6 (provisional) from 182.6 (provisional) for the previous month, according to official data.

The index in manufactured products rose by 0.3 per cent to 155.4 (provisional) in July from 154.9 (provisional) for the previous month. 

Year on Year (YoY) Basis, the WPI for Cotton Textiles, Wood and Wood Products, Paper and Paper Products, Chemicals and Chemical Products, Beverages, Tobacco and Tobacco Product showed an increase.  Whereas, the WPI for Transport Equipment and Parts, Rubber and Plastic Products, Leather and Leather Products, Man Made Textiles witnessed a decline on YoY basis.
