Key Highlights of Delhi Budget 2016-17

New Delhi, Mar 28 (KNN) Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia tabled the Delhi Budget for the year 2016-17 in the Assembly today. This is the second time Aam Aadmi Party has presented its budget. Let's have a look at the key highlights from the Budget:
- VAT on garments reduced to 5% from 12.5%
- VAT on sweets and snacks has been reduced from 12.5% to 5%.
- VAT on school bags has also been reduced to 5% from 12.5%
- Tax on watches in Delhi depends on the price of watch. We propose to impose 12.5% tax on all kind of watches
- 5% VAT on plastic waste
- Footwear VAT standardized at 5%
- VAT reduced on Battery run vehicles from 12% to 5% in Delhi.
- Our aim is to keep the tax slab at par with neighbour states. We have reduced VAT in few items for that: Sisodia.
- Subsidy in electricity bill to continue, Rs 1600 crore set aside for this.
- DSIIDC has been asked to start work of road and drain in unauthorised colonies of Delhi. Rs 300 crore allocated.
- Rs 152 cr for realizing the dream of Late Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, of skill training
- 8.4% of the budget dedicated towards Transport Sector to tune of Rs 1,735Cr, thereby helping common man commute easily
- 200 types of useless affidavits have been scrapped by Delhi Govt which used to bother citizens needlessly
- Govt to allocate Rs 152 cr for vocational training
- Delhi has contributed 4.02 percent growth to overall GDP
- VAT for FY 16-17 Rs 1,400 cr
- Rs 2466 crores for development of city infrastructures
- Revenue collection saw increase by 31%.
- Eliminating inspector Raj enhanced tax collection.
- Bill Banao Inam Pao" Scheme has helped eliminate tax evasion. 1 Cr extra tax collected last month.
