Labour Ministry to launch new portal for employment exchange, placements

New Delhi, March 8 (KNN) The Ministry of Labour and Employment has plans to establish a National Career Service (NCS) portal to provide a common, centralized employment exchange platform for giving better range of services including job placement, vacancy notification, formal training programmes, and on-the-job trainings.
 
In this context, Directorate General of Employment and Training (DGE&T) under the Ministry of Labour and Employment wants to rope in private consulting agency  in designing the NCS portal project and providing support in the appointment of an agency to implement the NCSP and providing project management support thereon.
 
The project is being taken up in the Mission Mode Projects (MMP) for upgradation and modernization of Employment Exchanges in order to make them more demand responsive.
 
The vision is to "Provide a national platform for interface between stakeholders for responsive, transparent and efficient employment services in order to meet skill needs of a dynamic economy", the ministry said.
 
The overall aim of the project is to provide gainful employment to all job-seekers registered with Employment Exchanges by facilitating interaction between jobseekers and employers and disseminating accurate and consistent employment market information to the policy makers on time.
 
DGE&T in the Ministry of Labour is an apex organisation for development and coordination at National level for the programmes relating to vocational training including women's vocational training.
 
Employment service is operated through a countrywide network of employment exchanges. Industrial Training Institutes are under the administrative and financial control of State Governments or Union Territory Administrations.
 
DGE&T also operates vocational training schemes in some of the specialized areas through field institutes under its direct control. Development of these programmes at national level, particularly in the area concerning common policies, common standards and procedures, training of instructors and trade testing are the responsibility of the DGE&T.
