Last day to spend old currency notes of Rs 500 & Rs 1000

New Delhi, Nov 24 (KNN) Today is the last day to spend old currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 at public utilities after which the old notes can just be deposited or exchanged at banks till December 30.

After the sudden announcement on demonetization on November 8 evening, government had allowed certain relaxations to ease the situation.

Government had allowed usage of old currency notes at petrol pumps, government hospitals, mother dairies, paying utility bills, for railway ticketing etc.

Earlier this announcement was extended for just 72 hours but later it had to be extended till November 24 due to huge queues at banks, ATMs and post offices. (KNN Bureau)
