MUDRA has generated self-employment opportunities: MoS Defence

New Delhi, Oct 11 (KNN) The Minister of State for Defence Dr Subhash Bhamre made a one day visit to Shillong on 9October for Mudra Promotion Campaign. During the campaign, he spoke on the yojana‘s success and its positive impact on Micro Small ans Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector.

The campaign was conducted by the Government of Meghalaya and State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC).

The minister informed the people about the salient features of the yojana which aims to provide formal access of financial facilities to the small businesses thereby creating more self-employment opportunities.

He said that the scheme has generated self-employment and job opportunities. 9.13crore loans have been sanctioned under PMMY (Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojna) since its launch on 8April,2017 .Out of 9.13 crore loans, loans to women constitute 6.89 crore (76%), SC/ST/OBC constitute 5.07 crore (55%).

He also encouraged MSMEs to use digital payment methods. (KNN/AG)
