New Year gift for customers-businessmen, no charges on digital transactions up to 2000 rupees: Prasad

New Delhi, Jan 2 (KNN) Aiming at boosting digital transactions in the country, the government announced waiving off charges on digital payments on transactions value up to 2000 rupees.

Ravi Shankar Prasad, Information and Technology Minister in a tweet from his official twitter handle said that the decision comes as a gift for the New Year.

“New Year gift to the customers and businessmen. Now no need to pay any extra charges on digital payments up to 200 rupees”, the Minister tweeted from his official twitter handle.

The platforms include paying through the debit cards, BHIM application and the BHIM Aadhaar modes.

The Minister further informed that since April 2017, the monthly transactions on BHIP platform have increased to over 20 times.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi too batted for moving towards a digital economy. PM Modi said that with a robust digital transaction based economy, both transparency as well as convenience can be ensured in the country.

Also the government’s demonetization drive was  a step towards the same, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley informed. (KNN/DA)
