No plans to launch Rs 1000 notes for now: Jaitley

New Delhi, Nov 17 (KNN) Government has no plans to launch Rs 1000 notes into the system for now, said Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

Jaitley said the government had said that the decommissioned notes would be replaced with Rs 500 and Rs 2,000 notes, several ATMs are now dispensing the new notes.

Speaking on the exchange limit for notes being cut to Rs 2,000 from Rs 4,500 currently, Jaitley said that the move was to stop the misuse of funds.

He also added that nearly 22,500 ATMs would be re-calibrated on Thursday to dispense cash effectively.

Also, in order to curb misuse of currency, Government has said that the private hospitals would no longer accept old currency notes. (KNN Bureau)
