Nov WPI at 14 month high at 7.52% due to high food inflation, mfg product inflation rises to 2.64%

New Delhi, Dec 16 (KNN) Ahead of RBI's policy review on Wednesday, India's Wholesale Price Index (WPI) inflation for the month of November rose to 7.52 per cent mainly due  to increase in food and fuel prices.

“The annual rate of inflation, based on monthly WPI, stood at 7.52 per cent for the month of November, 2013 as compared to 7.00 per cent for the previous month and 7.24 per cent during the corresponding month of the previous year,” according to official data.

“Build up inflation rate in the financial year so far was 6.70 per cent compared to a build-up rate of 4.84 per cent in the corresponding period of the previous year,” it added.

Consumer price inflation (CPI) rose to 11.24 per cent in November from 10.17 per cent in October due to rise in food inflation.

The manufactured products inflation rose to 2.64 per cent versus 2.50 per cent in October.

The fuel and power inflation also rose to 11.08 per cent versus 10.33 per cent in October. The food inflation surged to 19.93 per cent versus 18.19 per cent in October. 

Vegetable prices shot up by 95.25 per cent in November as compared to 78.38 per cent in the previous month, said WPI inflation data released today.

The overall inflation in the food segment comprising wheat, pulses, vegetables, milk, among others, was at 19.93 per cent, up from 18.19 per cent in October.

Cereal prices were up 11.32 percent year-on-year. Rice was costlier by 14.99 percent while wheat was expensive by 7.21 per cent. (KNN/SD)
