Piyush Goyal Launches New PM GatiShakti Initiatives To Boost Integrated Infrastructure Planning

New Delhi, Oct 14 (KNN) Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Monday launched a series of initiatives by the Logistics Division, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) aimed at advancing socio-economic development through integrated infrastructure planning, enhanced last-mile connectivity, and data-driven governance.

Goyal highlighted that in October 2024, the government launched the PM GatiShakti District Master Plans (PMGS-DMP) for 28 Aspirational Districts, enabling geospatial-based planning for critical social and economic infrastructure, including schools, health centres, anganwadis, roads, and water pipelines.

The initiative uses the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (NMP) platform to promote coordinated and evidence-based infrastructure development.

To support implementation, five sector-specific digital tools were developed, accompanied by capacity-building programmes conducted at BISAG-N, Gandhinagar.

Several districts have since adopted these tools for area development projects, including road widening in Damoh–Jabalpur, solar park site selection, village electrification, and watershed management in Baran district.

Based on these outcomes, the PMGS-DMP is now being expanded across all 112 Aspirational Districts.

At the event, Goyal also unveiled a set of new digital initiatives under the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan, including the Knowledge Management System (KMS), Decentralised Data Uploading and Management System (DUMS), PMGS NMP Dashboard, and PM GatiShakti Compendium Volume-3.

The KMS serves as a central repository of digital tools, use cases, standard operating procedures, and training materials to foster cross-sector learning and scalability.

The integrated NMP Dashboard provides real-time insights into data layers, registered users, projects, and issues tracked through the Issue Management System, while DUMS ensures structured data uploading and validation through a transparent three-stage workflow.

Among the key announcements, the launch of ‘PM GatiShakti Public’ through the Unified Geospatial Interface (UGI) was described as a major step toward democratising access to geospatial data.

The web-based platform, developed by BISAG-N and powered by the National Geospatial Data Registry (NGDR), offers regulated access to 230 approved datasets on physical and social infrastructure.

It allows users—including private entities, consultants, and researchers—to conduct site suitability analysis, connectivity mapping, compliance checks, and generate analytical reports.

Access to the platform will be granted through a self-registration process with strict authentication and data protection measures. Future upgrades will include new datasets and analytical tools based on user feedback and evolving requirements.
