Piyush Goyal to hold meeting with prominent industry associations

New Delhi, Oct 6 (KNN) To seek feedback on various measures being taken by Government of India to revive the economy, Minister for Commerce & Industry and Railways Piyush Goyal is holding virtual meeting with premier trade and industry bodies on 8th October 2020.

While the prospects of a ‘V-shape recovery’ looks dim, the economy has shown signs of growth.

The Goods and Services tax (GST) collection has posted growth in September after six months of contraction. It indicates rebound of economic activities after months of disruption.

Automobile sector has also showed positive signs of recovery with 13 per cent rise in despatches in September as compared to the same period last year. Tractor sales also jumped.

Government is keen to know of the impact of Atmanirbhar Bharat package announced in May this year.  It may be mulling possibility of additional booster package to give impetus to economic growth.

Associations invited to attend include corporate bodies like FICCI, CII, ASSOCHAM,  national MSME associations namely FISME and LBU and sectoral associations such as IEEMA, SIAM, ACMA, NASSCOM among others.
