PM Modi urges investors to generate business in J&K

New Delhi, Aug 9 (KNN) Addressing the nation after abrogation of Article 370, and bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged technology companies and other industries to include Kashmir in their plans.

He also urged the export industry to ensure that Kashmiri products are exported everywhere.

In his speech, he said, "The colour of saffron or the taste of coffee from Jammu and Kashmir, the sweetness of the apple or the succulence of the apricot, Kashmiri shawls or artefacts, organic products of Ladakh or herbal medicine, all need to be spread worldwide."

Justifying the Central government’s decision, Prime Minister said the Union Territory status for Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh also meant that the State police and administrative staff would get pay parity with the staff in other Union Territories.

All vacancies in government jobs at both the Central and State levels will be filled soon, he added.

He assured people that jobs through public sector units and private sector would also make their way to the two Union Territories.

He called for investors, film industry in particular to generate business in the State, delineating tourism, horticulture and handicrafts as the mainstay of the economy there.

Besides this, he added that Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh can become the biggest tourist destination in the world.

He assured that with normalized situation, people from all over the world will come to shoot movies there and thus bring employment for locals.
